Camp Goal:
To motivate newly immigrated middle and high school students to desire a college education after graduation, especially in the sciences.

FutureNow! Students gaining hands-on experience in the GVSU biology laboratory.
GVSU DAY CAMP (June 17-22,2024)
​During the week-long camp at GVSU, FutureNow! Students:
* toured the GVSU Allendale campus and experienced college life.
* learned about the core courses and extracurricular activities on campus.
* participated in hands-on experiments in the biology laboratories and other controlled spaces.
* experienced field/marine research on the AWRI Research Vessel.​
Learning about farming science and techniques at the Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) site.
Students learn about the marine life in Michigan Lakes on board the AWRI Research Vessel.
Learning about soil science and how seeds are prepared for planting in the biology laboratory.
CALVIN UNIVERSITY DAY CAMP
(June 24-28, 2024)
During the week-long camp at GVSU, FutureNow! Campers:
* learned to use auscultation, palpation, and stethoscopes to gather information about their patients.
* learned about the regular changes during puberty and how to maintain good health.
* learned about the heart, lungs, and blood vessels and how to keep these organs healthy.
* learned how to maintain physical and emotional well-being. They also learned how to identify sources and symptoms of anxiety, deal with peer pressure, and maintain a healthy lifestyle..​
